Super Short RNC Summary

Mitt Romney

Romney’s acceptance speech in one sentence (transcript): Yay (heterosexual, white, wealthy, married) Americans, boo Obama, and let’s go to war.

My commentary: Until I watched Romney’s speech, I thought the Cold War was over. I obviously am an ignorant non-American, you know with the whole non-patriotic thing.

Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood’s speech (transcript): Uhhhhhhh, I am getting senile or have lost my mind.

My commentary: Eastwood said, “I think attorneys are so busy — you know they’re always taught to argue everything, and always weight everything — weigh both sides…” Wait, weighing both sides is a bad thing? Mr. Eastwood, you may not be aware, but there is never a definitively right answer.
Also, Eastwood stated, “I would just like to say something, ladies and gentlemen. Something that I think is very important.  It is that, you, we — we own this country.” Actually, if you want to talk about who financially owns this country, it would be China. Outside of that,America is not dictatorship or a timocracy; it is a democracy.

Paul Ryan

Ryan’s acceptance speech in one sentence (transcript): The Obama administration is a big disappointment and knows nothing about money; I know a LOT about money and will git er done.

Just a few of Ryan’s lies corrected (otherwise it would take all day):

The greatest threat to Medicare is Obamacare Romney/Ryan, and we’re going to stop it Medicare and Obamacare.

After four years of government trying to divide up the wealth, we will get America corporate America creating wealth again for the 1%. With tax fairness breaks for the wealthy and burden for the middle/lower classes and regulatory reform, we’ll put government back on the side of the men and women of giant corporations who create jobs, and the men and women who need jobs and pay the majority of taxes.

We have a plan for a stronger middle class, with the goal of generating 12 million new jobs over the next four years which is actually the projected number of jobs that will be created no matter who is in power. We have some lofty goals so we can put the tax burden on you.

The Audience/Republicans

The convention audience: all white, very excited by balloons, cries at unemotionally-provoking statements, and really, REALLY likes to chant “U-S-A”.

That is the Republican National Convention super-short rendition.

  1. So you’re basically saying that you would rather have there be a high unemployment rate yet again, than have a republican elected. And, Obamacare isn’t free; it has cost the government a lot of money, so getting rid of wouldn’t exactly hurt. The ‘wealthy’ getting tax breaks is actually not a huge deal. They still pay way more in taxes, and most of the time they actually earn their money. I don’t see where an actual complaint lies.

    • You may want to check your facts…
According to the Congressional Budget Office, this the Affordable Care Act will reduce budget deficits by at least $119 billion between now and 2019. And only around 1% of American households will end up paying a penalty for lacking health insurance. The Affordable Care Act makes changes to Medicare as well as other important cost-containment measures. In other words, it lays the groundwork for potentially far deeper budgetary savings down the road. Did you know, to repeal ACA, it would increase the federal budget deficit by an estimated $109 billion between 2013 and 2022? Both of these numbers are from the NONPARTISAN CBO.
You do not seem aware that the unemployment rate has DECREASED under Obama. Please tell me how a man (Romney) who exported jobs in his own company overseas is going to decrease unemployment… he surely didn’t say how he planned on doing it in his speech last night and he also does not have a strong history of creating jobs, especially with closing GM, etc.
I pay 27% in taxes… and Mitt pays 13% or less. It is not about how much the actual money is. It is the fact that I, as a poor American struggling to eat, pay student loans, etc. is paying 14% more than a man who can actually afford to pay 27%. Instead, he bitches about the deficit and government spending (which can both be contributed for the budget being over what it should be because the gov’t does not have the funds (aka tax income).) Romney is not even willing to pitch in for the America he so dearly adores. Not to mention, his running mate, Ryan, wants to FURTHER cut taxes for the wealthiest. So, it DOES make a difference, a BIG difference. Also, I actually EARN my money and so does every other person I know. Who are these non-money earning taxpayers you speak of?
I was giving an overview of their speech. And my complaints are based on FACTS and REAL STATISTICS not the LIES that have filled the Republican campaign. I would rather have a higher unemployment rate than a republican elected. I think it will be fiscally more responsible to have Obama in the White House once again. Senate Republicans in July blocked a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that “insource” jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad. In fact, they have blocked all of the bills that Obama has written to improve the economy. Also, I want to do whatever the fuck I want with my body without old white men telling me what is moral in their church. It is not a matter of party lines. It is the fact that this candidate and his running mate have shitty policies that will drag us backwards.
